- Sonde and plug
are pushed into the pipe

placed in the ground at a fixed location
- Pipe is filled
with water
- Sonde is pulled
out of
the pipe at a speed of 30 ft/minute
- Electic current

measured and displayed in real time on a hand held computer
Interpretation:
- Trace amplitude

to size of defect.

trace anomaly is that of defect.
